Fibre To The Cabinet (FTTC)
KNL provide FTTC connections as your main Internet connection or as part of a resilient backup to leased lines
FTTC involves laying a fibre optic cable to the cabinet in (or near) your location, typically by BT and is often referred to as their “Infinity” product, however other suppliers have their versions available. FTTC allows them to offer much higher broadband speeds (both download and upload) than traditional broadband over your phone line, however this is a contended service which will afffect bandwidth.
This service is well suited for businesses on a budget but need a better than average connection but short of a leased line level of service
Although it may be advertised as available in your local exchange it is the local cabinet in the street that needs to be enabled as well, often leading to a road being split as to who can and who can’t access this relatively low cost solution.
FTTC is often called a business class product but it may not come with a service level guarantee –check before committing! If you are reliant on internet access for your business, consider other connections that have guaranteed service level agreements.
